Community Ambassadors
Welcome to our new community ambassadors! These special volunteers are already having a big impact: from Maryborough to Yapeen, from Castlemaine to Newstead. They are working to connect communities to bring us closer together. The best voice for our trail will be local.
You make us feel valued and informed: CMRT Volunteers
Almost 20 CMRT volunteers shared their praise and feedback about working with us over two virtual roundtables in Autumn. The roundtables were made possible by a $2,000 community grant from the Mt Alexander Shire Council. They were backed by insights from Volunteering Victoria.
New volunteer roles: we want to hear from you
We’ve got several volunteer roles now open, and at least one that probably suits you. That’s why with a fresh nip in the morning air and the leaves turning, we’re launching our Autumn volunteer campaign. There’s lots of ways you can make a difference and get your trail built sooner.
Volunteers, sponsors recognised at AGM for the “true believers”
Ten volunteers and key sponsors were recognised at our inaugural AGM this week. More than 30 members attended the event. Outgoing President John Carruthers praised the “true believers”. “We’re on the cusp of the sweetest victory of all.’
Volunteer Chats Bring Connection and New Ideas
What stood out from our conversations with volunteers this week was the strong desire to connect. That’s been tough the past few months. “People are ready to engage,” said CMRT’s Yapeen Community Ambassador, Jill Pattinson. “Everyone’s tired of being kept at a distance.”
Build it and they will come, says Deb Macer
We understand that government types want to see a trail feasibility study first. But for Maryborough CMRT volunteer and trail advocate, Deb Macer, the conclusion is simple: ‘Build it and they will come’. Especially to Maryborough. Rail access both ways is a real winner too.
Reshaping our volunteer experience thanks to MASC
Dare to dream? We do a lot of that at CMRT. This time we’re daring to imagine we can become an organisation of choice for talented and motivated volunteers from Maryborough to Castlemaine. The program is made possible by a $2,000 community grant from Mt Alexander Shire Council.

Thank you volunteers! We want to hear from you.
