Community and Landholder Community Consultation Complete

Community Consultation Complete – Thank You for Your Feedback

The Community and Landholder Consultation for the Castlemaine–Maryborough Rail Trail has now concluded, with strong engagement and participation from across the region.

Community members, landholders and stakeholders shared their views through drop-in sessions, an online survey and written submissions.

Engagement highlights include:

  • Six two-hour drop-in sessions held across the region
    • Maryborough, Carisbrook, Newstead and Guildford: approximately 15–20 attendees at each session
    • Campbells Creek: approximately 70 attendees
    • Castlemaine: approximately 35 attendees
  • An online survey that received 147 responses
    • 103 responses from Campbells Creek and Castlemaine
    • 17 responses from Newstead
    • 14 responses combined from Carisbrook and Maryborough
  • Written submissions, with 27 responses received via a dedicated feedback email account

All feedback collected during the consultation period is now being compiled and analysed by our consultants, Fitzgerald Frisby Landscape Architects. The findings will be documented in a summary report outlining key themes, recommendations and proposed follow-up actions. The report will be made public once finalised.

The consultation was performed as part of the Pre-Construction Project. The project is led by Castlemaine–Maryborough Rail Trail Inc., with support from the Victorian Government’s Enabling Tourism Fund, Central Goldfields Shire Council, and Mount Alexander Shire Council.

The project team will use the report to inform the development of an action plan for the next stages of the project.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to share their views. Your input is helping ensure the project:

  • is informed by local knowledge, values and aspirations
  • recognises and responds to concerns raised about the trail’s design

Further updates will be shared in the coming months.
